I made a mistake on Sunday. I got pizza from an unnamed chain pizza place. I hadn't done that in nearly four years before my relapse this weekend. Bad pizza is an addiction in America. It infects our children by showing up where kids hang out. Swimming pools. Roller Rinks. Schools! We grow up thinking pizza is a floppy, greasy, gummy mess covered in paper-thin slices of pepperoni. We order pizza delivered to our front door with foundations of lackluster crusts covered by the same mediocre toppings. Next Door Pizza & Pub opened on January 31 in Lee's Summit (3385 SW Fascination Drive), but the pizza restaurant celebrates its official grand opening on Thursday, May 6. The menu includes Chicago style and thin crust pizza -- all of the dough is made in-house. The beer selection is outstanding with Founders, Lagunitas, Anchor Steam, Left Hand and Boulevard's Tank 7 on tap. The pizza shop is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Monday to Thursday), 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Friday, Saturday), and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Sunday). The phone number is 816-763-1200.

This is a cool little Chicago deep dish pizza place that just opened next to Longview Community College. The neat thing about this place is that they used Face Book for their initial advertising.
We went there on their 3rd day of soft opening. We were fortunate enough to get a pizza (they ran out shortly after we got there). Click here to watch the video...
